Reddish Sunshine

While walking around on the flats of Upper Captiva this past weekend I was surrounded by dozens of Reddish Egrets, White Pelicans, Herons, and a bunch of different Terns.

Spending some time with the Birds

Today was the first warm day we have seen in a very long time. This afternoon there was a chorus of birds on the water just before sunset. I was trying to get some good pictures but pretty much struck out. Here is a photo I took of a White Pelican against a sunset photo taken last year in Boca Grande...

Crazy Fish

You never know what you are going to find on the bottom of the ocean. While we were catching fish offshore one day, we brought up this beautiful little fish. It fit into my hand. It appears to be some type of Tilefish ?

North Atlantic Blue fin Tuna

The sushi beast !

Muddy Waders

Here are a couple more Tarpon that were taken from the Everglades National Park region that have great earth tones.

Snook

Another ongoing piece I am not happy with. Oh well...

Redfish

An ongoing work in many stages.

Tarpon

The mighty Tarpon. The many stages of life, and the journey through the waters around the Southeastern United States. The photos I have been working with were all taken of Tarpon during the different stages of life throughout Southwest Florida from 2005-2010. In the impressions that came from these photos I have tried to create an abstact form of art that conveys the magestry of these creatures and the power they command in their own enviornment.

Ibis

I have been working on a series involving the Ibis (Chokoloskee Chicken). It is such a great ordinary bird. Perhaps this is why I love it. I can relate in so many ways. I am ordinary. Over the last few years this simple and ordinary bird has caught my eye on so many different levels. In some cases it is merely because the beautiful clean white of this bird captures the colors around it so well. In some cases it is almost as if the bird itself has the Ora or tone or vibration that the universe is giving off at the time. This is a very difficult thing to capture with the camera or translate to additional viewers that were not present at the time, but I have tried.
